MoMu Antwerp

MoMu – Antwerp Fashion Museum is presenting the first large-scale retrospective exhibition of the work of Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck. The exhibition reveals how Van Beirendonck examines the frontiers of beauty, creating his own interpretations of concepts imposed by society. It also investigates the diverse projects beyond the catwalk, in which Walter van Beirendonck has participated, with special focus on his costumes for the U2 PopMart tour in 1997.

This exhibition runs from September 14th  – 19th February 2012.

The fashion museum in Antwerp MoMu is presenting UNRAVEL, Knitwear in Fashion. The exhibition aims to show that knitting is versatile, luxurious and a continuing source of inspiration for high end fashion (and not plain and old fashioned)! It demonstrates the popularity of knitting both on and off the catwalk over the past decades.  Vivianne Westwood and Sonia Rykiel pieces are presented alongside Haute Couture by Chanel and Schiaparelli, just to name a few.  Also newcomers on the international fashion scene are presented such as Sandra Backlund and Mark Fast. Ongoing until the 14th August 2011.

“The maker of the most beautiful hats in the world” – Steven Jones has released his book “Stephen Jones & the Accent of Fashion”. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the House, his work is also currently on view in an exhibition of the same name at Antwerp’s Fashion museum MoMu – until the 13 February.
